  • Friends Reunite on Mission

Over the years, the Lord has allowed many lasting friendships to blossom between churches and individuals in the U.S. and our team and communities in Peru. This year, some of our most dedicated friends returned to the mountain city of Cajamarca once again to invest in those relationships and serve their Lord Jesus Christ alongside their Peruvian brethren.

  • Building upon the rock: short-term missionaries labor with love in Parque Industrial

In Norman, Oklahoma, Emily Wilkins works as a public relations director for a teachers’ association. In Peru, she shovels dirt . .

  • IPC Memphis brings hope, healing to hundreds

"Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’" (Matt.

  • Two Camps, One Heart

At a time of year when campgrounds in the U.S. are locked up and, in some places, deep in snow, volunteers from two very special camps packed their bags and traveled to another hemisphere to bring a message of grace and love to nearly 150 children in need. This month Peru Mission welcomed Twin Lakes (a ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MS) and Point Pleasant (a ministry of Independent Presbyterian Church of Savannah, GA) to the sunny desert of Trujillo, Peru.

  • Visit finishes clinic, opens students’ eyes

“Be prepared for anything and don’t forget the power of prayer.” This is the counsel Virginia Tech freshman Alex Morze offers to others preparing for a short-term mission trip. “You know, when you’re in a different country, you’re working hard, you need help.” Morze, along with eight other students (from freshmen to graduate students), and four other teammates, partnered this month with a crew of Peruvian construction workers to build a sidewalk and install lights and running water in the clinic...

  • The heavenly nation: why and how we do short-term missions

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Rev. 7:9-10) “We are forming what we call the heavenly nation,” says Jaime Avellaneda, one of the pastors servin...

  • Soles4Souls

"Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him." John 13:5 The day begins with two chairs and a basin of water and a towel. As each participant comes in, the worker humbles himself and washes the feet of the recipient before placing the shoes on the feet. Here in Peru, many of the roads are dirt.

  • Independent Presbyterian Church, Savannah GA

This past September we were tremendously blessed by the presence of our dear friends from Independent Presbyterian Church of Savannah, GA. IPC Savannah comes faithfully to Peru every September and usually visits both Cajamarca and Trujillo to do both a medical campaign and a construction project. This year the IPC medical team did some house visits and also campaigns in Parque Industrial and Manuel Arévalo.

  • Behind the Scenes: Interview with Sonia Guerra Gonzáles

“All those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him, and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.” (Luke 4:40) If you have been following the work of Peru Mission for any length of time, you have probably read about Bethesda Clinic and its work in the Wichanzao community. You might also have read about the clinic’s mobile medical campaigns, or seen photos of doctors working under tents surrounded by adobe houses. Through the Great Physician’s grace, the ...

  • Dr. Kris Whitehead and Chad Brown, PT

The Betesda Clinic in Wichanzao has continually been blessed with doctors and other health care professionals that come to serve the people of Peru. Our most recent visitors were Dr. Kris Whitehead and Chad Brown, PT.

  • Key Biscayne Presbyterian Church

Our short-term team "season" came to a close with a visit from Key Biscayne Presbyterian Church. This group was really impressive! One interesting fact was that half of the team was fluent in Spanish (one team member was from Brazil and spoke Portuguese also and one was from Columbia).

  • Christ Covenant Presbyterian (Hernando, MS)

Two churches worlds apart, yet so similar. This is one way you may describe Christ Covenant in Hernando, MS and Cristo Rey in Trujillo, Peru. They are both in the infancy years as a church; they both are reformed Presbyterian churches; and they both love the Lord and want to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever.

  • First Presbyterian Church, Jackson, MS

I am not sure of the exact number of years, but I believe this was the 11th straight year that FPC Jackson has traveled to Cajamarca, Peru to show God's love through caring for physical needs as well as sharing the Gospel each day. This amazing team of 37 came to Peru and served without ceasing for the entire week. We began our week in a small town named, Jesus.

  • Matthews OPC

Scott Davenport was thrilled to take a break from language school when he and his family came to Trujillo to welcome his home church, Matthews OPC. June 24 to July 1, we enjoyed getting to know Scott's church family as they began working in our medical clinic in Parque Industrial. Additionally, Pastor Nathan Trice preached both in Cristo Rey and Arevalo; and met with the pastors from all of our churches to encourage them.

  • Vassar Dental Team

For the second year in a row, Jason Vassar, has led a team of dental students to Peru. Jason first began his relationship with Peru Mission as a Fellow. After living in Peru and teaching English for several months, his heart was captured and he has maintained this relationship while pursuing his dental education.
