The world now has seven billion inhabitants. More than half live in cities. Nearly a third of these city dwellers live in shanty towns. The challenges and opportunities of urban life in the 21st century parallel in remarkable ways the reality of life in the urban Roman Empire, only this time the challenges are exponentially larger. But with greater challenges come greater opportunities. The same Gospel that turned the Roman world upside down in the first few centuries is poised to do so again in the 21st century. The Lord is now giving His Church the greatest opportunity for missions since the second or third century.
